Semiconductor technologies contributing to modern electronic information devices have reached a certain point of maturity. Added value has been declining in respect to traditional processing and manufacturing technologies with a focus on miniaturization, as well as memory (DRAM) products based on these technologies. We need to carry out research and development of technologies for new materials, processing and high-density packaging in addition to technologies for downsizing in order to realize new and high-value added functions. Research involving multiple fields and the fusion of various technologies is indispensable for achieving these aims.
This research CORE has been carrying out research by making full use of the technologies offered by faculty members specializing in a variety of fields, including material production, processing, design and analysis technologies, to produce devices by integrating electronic (conductivity), optical and magnetic functions, etc. and to incorporate them in electronics systems.
